Parental Involvement

Coaching Opportunities

We are committed to hosting a football and cheer program at every level, and to do that we need parents to help! Please take the time to consider becoming a part of our group of quality coaches.

Our coaches are trained in First Aid, “Heads Up” tackling for player safety, general coaching techniques, and at least one coach for each team is also CPR certified.

We provide all the necessary information surrounding coaching skills, assistance with game planning, daily drill agenda’s, plays/formations/routes, and instruction on how to implement these plans. We receive assistance from the Algonquin Regional High School coaching staff both prior to the season and during our pre-season practice sessions.

All coach candidates need to be submitted to and approved by the Board of Directors. If interested, please contact us via email at

Parental Attendance

Parents or a designee for Tiny Mites and Mighty Mites and Cheer Division 8 have to be there for the entire practice.

In the event that your Football Player needs to go to the bathroom, they need to be accompanied by an adult into the bathrooms at Melican (it is difficult to get through the padding without an adult there to help). Coaches are not allowed to take your child to the bathroom.

Parents or a designee for Division 8 Cheerleaders may be asked to help out at practices. Responsibilities include keeping the children focused on the activity, and bathroom breaks.

For additional opportunities to get involved, visit several of our openings on the Volunteer Opportunities or Coordinators page.
